Though his Flight and Edith Stein received good critical notices in their New York runs, Arthur Giron is premiering his latest play, Love and Murder, across the bridge. On April 14, Giron's comic thriller will open at New Jersey Repertory Company in Long Branch.
Running through May 6, Love and Murder concerns a seemingly happy couple in a backwater New York State town. Bringing tensions to the surface are the pair's illegal South-American maid and a Native-American policeman. Previews begin April 12 for the show, to be staged by Peter Bennett, who's best known for helming off-Broadway's The Passion of Dracula.
Former head of Graduate Playwriting at Carnegie Mellon University, author Giron is also a founding member of Ensemble Studio Theater.
Also on the schedule for NJ Rep this season are Jack Canfora's Place Setting (May 31-June 24) and the world-premiere musical, Bookends (July 19-Aug. 26).
