Carole Shelley returns to the role she created of Madame Morrible (rhymes with horrible) in the Broadway production of Wicked, on Tuesday August 28. She takes over for Jayne Houdyshell. A Broadway veteran, Shelley has appeared in The Elephant Man (Tony Award), Stepping Out, Noises Off, Cabaret, The Last Night of Ballyhoo and played one of the Pigeon sisters in the original cast of The Odd Couple. Currently, the cast of Wicked includes Julia Murney ( Elphaba), Kendra Kassebaum( Glinda), Sebastian Arcelus ( Fiyero), Cristy Candler ( Nessarose), Logan Lipton (Boq), Stephen Skybell ( Dr. Dillamond) and Lenny Wolpe ( The Wizard). Wicked has a score by Stephen(Pippin, Rags) Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman . Joe Mantello directs the production and Wayne Cilento handles the musical staging.
