Sayonara to Bialystock and Bloom as The Producers announces its final performance will be Sunday April 22. When the show departs the St. James Theatre, it will have played 2,502 regular performances and 33 previews.

The show, which opened in April of 2001, garnered 12 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Actor in a Musical (Nathan Lane), Best Featured Actor in a Musical ( Gary Beach ) and Best Featured Actress in a Musical (Cady Huffman).

Scheduled to come into the St. James next is another Mel Brooks film to stage adaptation ,Young Frankenstein. The same creative team associated with The Producers will be involved with this one; music by Mr. Brooks, book by Thomas Meehan and Brooks and direction and choreography by Susan Stroman. As yet, there are no definite dates, nor has a cast been announced.
