CRIMINAL MINDS
at CBS Television

MEETING OF THE MINDS
By Roger B. Harris
Published August 13 2007

  Joe Mantegna

CBS will not have to lose it mind(s) , Criminal Minds, that is. Tony Award winner Joe Mantegna will be coming aboard the hit show sometime in the autumn, TVGuide.com reported. This plugs a huge hole, created when the show's leading man, Tony Award-winner Mandy Patinkin, pulled out of the show earlier this summer, citing "creative differences." In that the show was about to start filming its new season, it left all concerned in a real bind. Before this hiring reported by TVGuide. com, the name Harvey Keitel had come up as a possible replacement for Patinkin.

As for Mantegna, he won his Tony playing Ricky Roma in David Mamet's Glengarry Glen Ross. He also was in the 1970s musical Working and another Mamet play Speed-the-Plow. Currently, Mantegna can be heard in the film The Simpson Movie. He was also in Woody Allen's Alice. On television, he's had roles in Joan of Arcadia and First Monday.
