THE STARRY MESSENGER
at MTC's City Center

LOST IN THE STARS
By Roger B. Harris
Published May 23 2007

  Matthew Broderick

Matthew Broderick will star in the Manhattan Theatre Club's world premiere production of Kenneth Lonergan's The Starry Messenger, during the 2007-2008 season. Mr. Lonergan will direct the production at MTC's City Center Space.

The play's about a 40-plus married man( Broderick), working at the Hayden Planetarium, who meets a young single mother...and need we say, the planets are in flux. (The play had originally scheduled to appear at San Diego's Old Globe last year.)

Mr. Broderick has had a very successful New York theater career, to say the least. He won Tony Awards for Brighton Beach Memoirs and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying; he received a Tony nomination for his Leo Bloom character in The Producers. He's also appeared on the New York stage in Biloxi Blues, Night Must Fall and The Foreigner.

Mr. Lonergan's plays include The Waverly Gallery and Lobby Hero.
