BLACKBIRD
at American Conservatory Theater

HIGH FLYIN' BIRD
By Roger B. Harris

A bird in the hand and all that, but American Conservatory Theater will present the West Coast premiere of David Harrower's Blackbird, come April 27-May 27, with an opening set for May 2. The show will be directed by Loretta Greco and star Steven(Rex Van De Camp in Desperate Housewives) Culp) and Jessi Campbell.

This follows by a month or so the U.S. premiere of the play by the Manhattan Theatre Club, which started performances on March 15, and opens April 10. This version stars Jeff Daniels and Alison Pill.

The London production of the play won The Best New Play at the 2007 Olivier Awards. It starred Roger Allam and Jodhi May who gave riveting performances as an "older" gent who has remade his life( after he has paid his debt to society) and his one-time(underage) lover, who has tracked him down to confront him for what he did to her life. The results are mesmerizing.
