CHICAGO
at the Ambassador, New York

EXTENDED SENTENCE
By Roger B. Harris

  Bebe Neuwirth

Just when you thought it was time to say adieu to Bebe Neuwirth, she's gone and extended her run in Chicago through April 22. Ms. Neuwirth plays Roxie Hart in the long-running revival, at the Ambassador Theatre.

Back in November of '96 when the show was revived, Neuwirth originated the role of Velma Kelly.( Ann Reinking played Roxie Hart)  She won a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for that performance. She's also won a Tony for Best Featured Actress for Sweet Charity. But for countless television viewers, she'll always be  Frasier's wife Lilith from Cheers.

Chicago, was first mounted in June of 1975, at the 46th Street Theatre(The Richard Rodgers) with a score by ( John) Kander  and (Fred) Ebb); directed and choreographed by Bob Fosse; and starring Gwen Verdon and Chita Rivera

Currently the cast includes Brenda Braxton as Velma Kelly, Rob Bartlett as Amos Hart, Philip Casnoff  as Billy Flynn  and  Roz Ryan as Matron Mama Morton.
