With the Sex and the City movie coming out and recent revelations about her battle with breast cancer, Cynthia Nixon could be forgiven for putting theater on the back burner, but on the contrary come February 2009, she'll return to off-Broadway in Distracted, a new play by Lisa Loomer. Nixon, who won a Tony for Rabbit Hole and starred in an off-Broadway revival of The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, will play a mother who turns wherever she can for advice about whether her son has ADHD and, if so, whether drugs the answer.   Helming the serious comedy at the Roundabout's Laura Pels space will be Mark Brokaw, whose credits range from the current Cry-Baby to How I Learned to Drive. Loomer's best-known plays are The Waiting Room and Living Out.   The Roundabout's current projects are revivals of Les Liaisons Dangereuses and Sunday in the Park with George on Broadway, with Christopher Durang's The Marriage of Bette and Boo being prepped for the Pels. Already announced for next season at Studio 54 are revivals of Bob Fosse's Dancin' and the Rodgers and Hart tuner, Pal Joey.
