Maria Friedman-Re-arranged which premiered at the Menier Chocolate Factory in March, will open at the Trafalgar Studios on Nov. 27 and is scheduled to run until Jan. 7, 2009. Friedman will be supported by an eleven-piece band as she sings work by a long list of great composers including Irving Berlin, Leonard Bernstein, Jerry Herman, Michel Legrand and her long-standing friend and mentor Stephen Sondheim. Three-times Olivier winning Friedman has carved a career out of big musical roles such as Roxie in Chicago, Sukie in The Witches of Eastwick and Mother in Ragtime. But, as she told Theater News Online before her show's run at the Chocolate Factory, she has given up musicals and their gruelling 8-performance-a-week schedule in order to focus on cabaret concert style productions. This transfer will see Chocolate Factory artistic director David Babani helm the show while Friedman's sister Sonia joins the team as co-producer.
