at the National Theatre

The National Theatre, has unveiled its summer schedule. And the Gate Theatre's production of The Emperor Jones will be coming to the Olivier stage, starting August 22, with an August 28 opening. It will be directed by Equus director Thea Sharrock.

The title role will be played by Paterson Joseph, reprising his Gate Theatre performance. Joseph was last seen at the National in The Royal Hunt of the Sun. He'll also appear in the National's forthcoming version of St. Joan.

Other shows on tap include: The Five Wives of Maurice Pinder by Matt Charman,opening June 13, St. Joan, coming in July 4, The Hothouse by Harold Pinter, beginning July 11, and an adaptation by Clare Bayley of Victoria Benedictsson's Swedish novel The Enchantment,beginning July 24.
