All good things must come to an end, no matter how sweet. Case in point: Mary Poppins, which has announced that it will be closing on January 12, 2008. the Disney - Cameron Mackintosh production will have played a little more than three years at the Prince Edward Theatre, opening on December 15, 2004.

Currently, Scarlett Strallen is playing Mary Poppins and Gavin Creel is Bert, the cockney chimneysweep. The show includes many of the original songs by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman for the 1964 film, which starred the nanny of nannies, Julie Andrews. Dick Van Dyke, using the strangest-sounding cockney accent played Bert. Additional songs and additional music and lyrics for the show were added by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe.
