The History Boys, Alan Bennett's Tony and Olivier Award-winning play will set up shop at Wyndham's Theatre, exactly one year since it opened there at the start of its previous engagement. The original Nicholas Hytner production will be recreated by Paul Miller this time around. And it's scheduled to open on December 20. Desmond Barrit will play maverick school-teacher Hector, the role originally played by Richard Griffiths. Other cast members include Elizabeth Bell, Tim Delap, Ryan Hawley, Daniel Fine, Sam Phillips, Alton Letto, and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, among others. The play had its world premiere at the National's Lyttelton Theatre in May of 2004. In addition to the Olivier Award, the play also won the Evening Standard and Critics' Circle awards for Best New Play. The show crossed the Atlantic to open on Broadway in April of 2006. It won six Tony Awards, including Best Play and Best Director for Hytner.
